Clapham Nomads had their annual meeting for the 2014 season in February. We were going to hold it at the Namak Mandi in Tooting but we didn't book (sorry, probably my fault - apparently the food there is sensationally good) and the only space left was in an upstairs room where diners sit on cushions on the floor. Most Nomads are able to get down to the floor but, several, (I name no names) might not have been able to get up again and so we re-convened at the Mirch Masala, also in Upper Tooting Road.
The food there is great as well (their Norbury Branch was once proclaimed as the 37th best restaurant in Great Britain.) My abiding memory of the meal is of Emil brandishing a large bone and stating approvingly; "Now that is lamb." Gul, being a man of legendary status in Tooting, was able to secure us a discount so everyone was happy.
Fielder of the Year was Abbas
Bowler of the Year was Hassan
Batsman of the Year was Hassan (with an honourable mention for Darwin for his brilliant second half of the season. Also a great comeback season from Mark)
2014 Player of the Year was Hassan. Congratulations to Hassan whose match-winning innings against Energy Exiles was one of the all-time Clapham Nomads highlights.
I will put the averages etc on here soon. I accidentally missed the catches from one game in the printouts that I gave you at the meeting. Darwin, in particular, had quite a few more catches than I credited him with.
First Nomads match this year is a home game against the Surbiton Imperials on Sunday 26th April.
